MILESTONE MAN HITS 30,000 ~ Sachin Tendulkar celebrates on Friday his 43rd Test century at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the first match between India and Sri Lanka petered out into a draw. Relishing his 20th anniversary as an international batsman, Tendulkar also became the first man to pass 30,000 international runs. The hosts started the final
day on 190 for two, still 144 behind Sri Lanka, but Gautam Gambhir hit 114 as India knocked off the deficit. Tendulkar, ably supported by VVS Laxman (51 not out), then moved to his triple-digit knock before both captains agreed on the inconclusive finish. - AFPKMC to name & shame defaulters

A photograph released by the Australian Antarctic Division shows an iceberg running aground at Bauer Bay on the west coast of the Australian sub-Antarctic territory of Macquarie Island. Scientists said on Friday that a cluster of Antarctic icebergs were heading towards New Zealand after being spotted around 400 km south of the country. Icebergs are a rare sight in the sub-Antarctic waters south of New Zealand but in 2006 a number floated to within 25 km of the coastline, the first such sighting since 1931. Oceanographer Mr Mike Williams said currents and winds would determine whether the latest icebergs, estimated to be up to 80 metres in length, would come close to the New Zealand coastline. ``They currently appear to be moving north at about 1.25 km an hour,`` Mr Russ said in a statement. ``It is possible that they might reach New Zealand intact ~ but they are showing signs of deteriorating and breaking up.`` - AFP Bombers kill 18 in Afghanistan
