KOLKATA, 29 MARCH: Two persons were arrested from Howrah Station today for smuggling gold worth around Rs 66 lakh. Police said Lakshmi Narayan Shaw and Chandan Kumar are residents of Chapra in Bihar. They were taking the consignment to Bihar. Someone handed them the bag containing 18 gold biscuits weighing around 2 kg at Burabazar. Preliminary investigation revealed that the two had been in the city for the past few days. But, the deal was fixed over phone when the accused were in Bihar. Later, they came to the city and met their accomplices here. They were scheduled to leave the city today and boarded Vibhuti Express from Howrah Station. Acting on a tip-off, police went to Howrah Station and found the duo in a compartment of the train.
