EC says sorry

NEW DELHI, Aug. 13. — The Election Commission today tendered an “unqualified apology” for incorrect display of the national flag at a press conference on 2 August.
Expressing regret, the EC said it was an “inadvertent lapse”. In a press note, deputy Election Commissioner Mr AN Jha said: “The EC expresses unqualified regret and apologises to the people of the country... The EC ... holds all national symbols in the highest esteem.” The wrong display of the flag was caused by the action of the cleaning staff. — SNS
