Proposal to Centre on varsity

Press Trust of India
Rourkela, Sept. 6. : The Orissa government has submitted a proposal, received from the Sambalpur University, to the Centre for providing it central university status.
As the university was serving the most backward areas of Kalahandi, Balangir, Koraput and Sundargarh, there was no reason for the Union Government to disagree with this proposal, vice-chancellor of the university Professor PC Tripathy told reporters here last night.
With limited resources, the university was doing its best to serve the backward areas by opening new courses to help the students to meet the challenges in the new age, he said.
